Bixby’s Hallie Jewell – Presented by Radius Gate and Fence

Tipoff of a new season is just around the corner and Bixby High School’s Hallie Jewell has set high expectations for herself and the Lady Spartans this season.

“My expectation for the upcoming season is that our hard work will pay off—that we’ll have a strong season, win regionals and district, make it to state, and win that gold ball,” Jewell said.

Under head coach Rylie Littlejohn, the Lady Spartans have enjoyed a nice run of success and teams with great chemistry.

“What I love most about my team is our culture, how we encourage and uplift each other. I love how we have each other’s backs and how we’re friends both on and off the court,” Jewell said.

For Bixby, everyone knows their role. The junior shooting guard some of her teammates are more vocal while others can keep the team loose and laughing.

“I would say that Kate Wernli is very vocal on the court and keeps us communicating. Peyton Singer is the teammate who always keeps us laughing and there is never a dull moment,” Jewell said.

Jewell finds inspiration in her parents who have supported her since she started playing basketball in the fourth grade when her dad was the head coach.

“My parents both definitely inspire me a lot because of who they are, how hard they work, and how they love and support me. My coaches inspire me as well because of their passion for our team and how determined they are to help us meet our ultimate goals. Most of all, I’m inspired by Jesus and His love for us,” Jewell said.

Her future plans include attending college, but Jewell said she is enjoying high school and her activities with the team and other groups.

“I plan to attend college, major in business, and am still considering basketball options,” said Jewell. “My favorite subject in school is English because I like writing. One of my favorite teachers that I’ve had was my sophomore year history teacher, Coach Sullivan. He didn’t just teach us about school, but about life. He’s the best. At Bixby, I’m a part of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). At my church, I’m involved in a leadership program called Capacity. I also love serving with the three-year-olds in LifeKids.”

When she has some free time, you can usually find Jewell spending time with friends and family.

“In my free time I love to hang out with my friends and family, go to the lake, be outdoors, and play pickleball,” Jewell said.
