Lincoln Christian’s Taryn Fairchild – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Benefit Resources, Inc

For Lincoln Christian School varsity cheerleader Taryn Fairchild, the mat is more than just a place to perform stunts and routines. It’s where faith, athletics and sisterhood intersect.

As a main base in stunting, Fairchild carries significant responsibility on the squad. Her role requires both physical strength and mental focus, knowing she’s responsible for her flyer’s safety.

“The toughest part is knowing I am responsible for keeping my flyer from hitting the ground and making sure she feels safe with me while she is in the air,” Fairchild said.

But the challenges of her position are balanced by the camaraderie she’s found with her teammates. The squad’s bond extends beyond competition, creating relationships that Fairchild values deeply.

“I love the sisterhood we have on the team,” she said. “We’re always there for each other on and off the mat and I always feel pushed to do my best.”

That drive to excel comes partly from home. Fairchild credits her mother, a former cheerleader herself, as her primary source of inspiration.

“My mom inspires me because she was a cheerleader when she was younger too and she always pushes me to do the absolute best I can,” Fairchild said. “She knows my talent and never lets me forget it or sell myself short.”

Representing a Christian school adds special meaning to Fairchild’s athletic pursuits. For her, each performance is an opportunity to display both her abilities and her values.

“Representing Lincoln is special to me because we are a Christian school,” she said. “I not only get to showcase the Lord but also the talents He has given me.”

Fairchild continues developing her skills, focusing on tumbling while working with coaches on advanced stunting techniques. She’s training with Coach Eric and Coach Isaac, a former world champion, on co-ed stunting.

The lessons from cheerleading extend beyond the gym floor. Fairchild believes her athletic experience has prepared her for future challenges.

“Athletics has taught me to never give up even when things get hard,” she said. “Also, never stop working hard.”
