Baseball is Life for Ryan Angell – Presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint Associates

Sapulpa junior infielder and pitcher Ryan Angell has learned that baseball, like life, is often defined by how a person responds to adversity. As a shortstop, third baseman and pitcher for the Chieftains, Angell has emerged as a versatile contributor whose mindset is shaped as much by his setbacks as his successes.

One of Angell’s favorite memories is Sapulpa’s 2024 regional championship, a run that reinforced his belief in persistence and preparation. “Failure is common, but you can’t let your failures hold you back from your wins,” Angell said. “Trust the process,” he added, summarizing the mantra that guides him through long seasons, tough practices and high-pressure innings.

In the classroom, Angell points to his math teacher, Mrs. Admire, who taught him during his sophomore and junior years, as a steady influence. Her consistency and expectations mirror the standards he set for himself on the diamond. At home, his mom is his primary inspiration, and he credits her with shaping both his work ethic and character. “With all the things she has to deal with she always finds a way to hold me to the standards that I work off of,” Angell said.

Inside the Sapulpa program, teammate Brock Copass has left the biggest impression on Angell. He admires how Copass “handles his business on the field” while still being a great friend away from the game. Professionally, Angell looks up to St. Louis Cardinals star Nolan Arenado, modeling his defensive approach and intensity after the All-Star third baseman.

More than anything, Angell loves representing Sapulpa and “the brand that my coaches have made” every time he takes the field. He said he is grateful for the support system surrounding him and made sure to recognize them. “I would like to thank God our Lord and Savior,” Angell said. “I would like to thank my coach’s for always being a big support during my career. “Lastly I want to thank my mom for always being my biggest fan no matter what and helping me through my journey.”
