Glenpool’s Allie Townes

Glenpool High School senior Allie Townes has found her place on the soccer field by doing the work that helps her team move forward. A varsity player for the Lady Warriors, Townes lines up on the wing, where speed, awareness and confidence can change a match in an instant. She said her role is simple to describe, but important to execute.

“I play the left wing or right wing,” Townes said.

For Townes, soccer has been about more than position or statistics. Her favorite memory in the program is rooted in family and in the chance to share the field with someone close to her. She said the accomplishment that means the most is “being able to play with my sister for three years.” That experience gave her a lasting connection to the sport and to her time at Glenpool.

The game also helped shape how she sees herself away from competition. Townes said one of the biggest lessons she has gained from sports is self-belief.

“Sports has taught me to have confidence,” she said.

That confidence has likely carried into the classroom, where she said two teachers stand out for the influence they have had on her life. Townes named Sissom and Phillips as her favorite teachers and said both “have made a huge impact on my life.” Their support, she said, is part of what has made her high school experience meaningful.

Townes also points to her family for inspiration. She said her mother is the person she looks up to most because of her resilience.

“My mom inspires me because of how strong she is,” Townes said.

As her senior year continues, Townes represents the kind of athlete every program values: steady, grateful and team-centered. Her story is not only about goals or wins, but about growth, relationships and confidence built over time. At Glenpool, those qualities have helped define her journey with the Lady Warriors and the legacy she leaves behind.
