Metro Christian’s Laken Lee
VYPE: Laken, what position do you play and what grade are you in?
Laken Lee: I am a sophomore and play outfield and pitcher.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Metro?
LL: Metro baseball has always felt like a tight-knit community of guys you can depend on. The team remains dependable and is always there for me through the good, the bad, and the ugly.
VYPE: Who inspires you? Explain.
LL: Growing up, my older brother has always been a big inspiration to me. He was a college baseball player and is now in medical school. He has always been a hard worker both on and in the classroom.
VYPE: What’s the toughest part about that position?
LL: Both as an outfielder and a pitcher, the mental game is everything. I constantly remind myself of the “Next Play” mentality. Make an error, next play. Someone gets a hit off of you, next play. It is all about staying sharp and focused on the game at hand.
VYPE: What makes representing Metro special for you?
LL: Because it’s a Christian school, every game becomes an opportunity to represent my faith in God. Anytime I wear the Metro name on my chest, I represent my faith, my school, my coaches, my team, my family, and the players who paved the way for me. It is truly an honor.
VYPE: What current or former teammate left an impression on you and in what way?
LL: Logan Korf has been my teammate through both football and baseball. I watched him battle an early season football injury. But, he overcame adversity and worked hard to get himself back in physical shape and health to be ready for the baseball season.
VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?
LL: Every kid dreams of making it to the next level, I am one of them. College ball has been a dream of mine since I was young. If that doesn’t work out, I could see myself in either business or as a dentist.
VYPE: What’s the strength of your game and what are you working on to improve?
LL: I am very disciplined at the plate and have the ability to hit the ball with power to all parts of the field. I’m working on adding a slider into my pitch arsenal.Q&A with Metro Christian’s Laken Lee
