Metro Christian heads into 2026 as a perennial power coming off an 11-1 season under long-time head coach Jared McCoy, now in his 26th year. McCoy says, “We’re going to be young, but talented,” and notes that the Patriots “have two young QB’s that we believe in,” both of whom “are winners.” While the offense won’t be as big up front as in recent seasons, Metro expects to compensate with speed and depth, especially along a defensive line that McCoy calls the team’s strength and “at least 2 deep at every position.”
Offensively, Metro plans to lean more heavily on the passing game to fit this year’s personnel. McCoy explains that because they’re “not as big up front on offense as we’ve been the last couple of year, so we’ll be slinging the ball around quite a bit,” which dovetails with a skill group built for spread concepts. Junior running back and Top 100 nominee Finn Kouplen (6-0, 175) headlines the backfield, joined by junior receiver Carter Flam (5-9, 170) and versatile junior Colson Holder (6-1, 160), who can play both QB and WR. Sophomore quarterback Brody Smith (5-11, 170), the underclassman to watch, steps into a key role behind a senior offensive line anchored by Easton Pinter (6-0, 275) and Jordan Hassell (6-0, 220).
Defensively, the Patriots will lean on a deep, talented front that McCoy identifies as the heart of the unit. He notes that “our D-line is our strength where we’re at least 2 deep at every position,” giving Metro the ability to rotate and stay fresh. Junior defensive end Laken Lee (6-2, 210) and senior lineman Nate Page (6-2, 210) lead the group in the trenches, supported by junior end Elias Gotsch (5-11, 195). At linebacker, seniors Isaac Vicena (6-1, 185), Owen Lynch (6-1, 185) and Andrew Rice (6-1, 190) give Metro experience and physicality on the second level.
