9Q’s with Bixby Tennis Player Aubry Gilleland – Presented by Sigler Heat and Air

VYPE: What do you love most about being a student-athlete at Bixby HS?

Aubry Gilleland: What I love most about being a student athlete is the lifelong friendships that I’ve made along the way.

VYPE: What’s your favorite subject in school and do you have a favorite teacher?

AG: My favorite subject is Science; I’m currently taking Forensic Science and I find it very interesting! My favorite teacher this year is Mrs. Johnson.

VYPE: At what age did you discover your interest in tennis?

AG: I was about 10 when I first started playing, then a couple months later I quit competitive soccer for tennis.

VYPE: What’s it like to call outs for your opponent?

AG: It doesn’t really affect me too much, It’s a part of the game. I’m honest about my calls and expect my opponents to do the same.

VYPE: Tennis, pickle ball, or ping pong, which are you playing for fun?

AG: I would play pickle ball with my friends for fun.

VYPE: What motivates you to keep playing and striving for improvement?

AG: My teammates play a big part in motivating me, and I was not satisfied with my results from last season. So, I hope to win state and stay undefeated for the season!

VYPE: Which teammate always impresses you the most or do you have a former teammate who left an impression on you? 

AG: My doubles partner Milana Quick impresses me the most she is always super positive and motivated!

VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life? Explain. 

AG: My Dad is a big influence in my life, he is hard working and is always there when you need him.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time outside of school and sports and what do you want to do after you graduate?

AG: I enjoy hanging out with my friends, going to the lake, and spending time with my family and dogs!After I graduate, I hope to travel a little then plan on going to college, somewhere not too far.
