Bixby Slow-Pitch Softball

As the softball players get back on the field for the slow-pitch season, Bixby High School head coach Brittany Robison has a roster loaded with players capable of having big seasons.

Heidi Gruenwald is a name the Bixby faithful will recognize. Gruenwald is a sophomore and will play first base for the Lady Spartans. Last season Gruenwald hit 21 homeruns and was intentionally walked 13 times as a freshman.

“Heidi is a standout softball player but an even better kid – maintaining a 4.0 and was chosen as a member of our 2025 Leadership Council,” said coach Robison.

Emme Friedrichsen, a junior outfielder, is proving to be a great leader for the slow-pitch team. Coach Robison said Friedrichsen can make major contributions at the plate and make difficult plays in the outfield look easy.

“Last year she roped 18 homeruns from the left side and her length allows her to snag some impossible fly balls for us on defense,” said coach Robison.

Harless Ashford and Sarah Barbee are two players to watch this season. Ashford keeps the energy up and the positive vibes flowing, while Barbee is a high-character student-athlete who is focused on doing whatever she can to help the team be successful on and off the field.

“Sarah is a senior who has maintained excellent character throughout her career. Wins, losses, ups and downs she is consistent at doing the right thing and bringing the right attitude. She is a phenomenal teammate, sister and student,” said coach Robison.

The schedule will be a challenging one this season with planned road trips to Firelake, Broken Bow and the always challenging Broken Arrow Festival. The Bixby Festival is set for April 7th.
