Sand Springs Sandites – Football Team Preview

SAND SPRINGS SANDITES

Coach: BOBBY KLINCK

11-2 (State Champions)

Sand Springs returns as a major 6A-II contender in 2026 after an 11-2 season and a state championship. The Sandites of Charles Page High School are back with 10 starters total—five on offense and five on defense. Head coach Bobby Klinck, now in his sixth year, acknowledges they must replace some significant players and leadership but welcomes the challenge, especially with a new senior quarterback, transfer Cash Koertner, stepping in. With that combination of experience and new firepower, the Sandites expect to stay in the thick of the title race.

Dom Forbes

On offense, Sand Springs’ identity centers on its “Spread and Shred” scheme under offensive coordinator Karson Green, an up-tempo spread built to stress defenses horizontally and vertically. Koertner (6-4, 188) will orchestrate an attack featuring senior receiver and Top 100 nominee Dom Forbes (6-2, 210), whom Klinck calls “the best WR in the state,” praising his size, speed and hands. Senior receivers Paxton Salazar (6-0, 183) and senior running back Kendell Page (5-10, 192) add more experience at the skill spots, while junior lineman Vin Barley (6-8, 230) highlights an offensive line the staff believes can play with increased physicality this fall. With Koertner at quarterback, Forbes’ game-breaking ability and a veteran core on both sides of the ball, Klinck is confident this group can again navigate a tough slate and contend deep into November.

Defensively, the Sandites return five starters and will base out of an even front while bouncing between even and odd looks depending on the opponent. Something that separates the Sandite defense is their willingness to sell out on every play and punish would-be offensive players looking to capitalize on the defense. Senior edge defender Grady Harris (6-3, 230) headlines the front as a DE/OLB hybrid, with junior Devin McColloch (6-0, 210) and sophomore Aiden Rhine (5-11, 254) adding more size and strength up front. In the secondary, seniors Joe Farmer (5-10, 170) and Kaden Pope (5-9, 155) provide experience and coverage ability. Look for Harris to be a real difference maker this season as the coaching staff adds a few new faces to the lineup on defense.
