Where did you go to college and what led you into teaching?

I finished my degree at Northeastern State University. As a young child, I wanted to be a teacher. Things changed as I grew up but that was in the background. I went back to school in my thirties to finish my degree and finally reach that goal of being an educator!

Who mentored you into the educator you are today?

I have found support at every turn in my teaching journey! So many people who have supported and encouraged me.

What do you love about teaching?

My favorite part of teaching is when students have fun learning. The look on their face when they get it!

What is great about your current school?

I absolutely love the community at Union High school! It’s a place built on HOPE and full of beautiful diversity! I love that our staff and students get to spend the day with people from all different backgrounds and we benefit from the sun of our experiences.

The People of Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas are committed to supporting STEM education. Why is teaching Science and Math so important?

Producing students who have a solid understanding of Science and Math is essential for our country to remain competitive in the global economy. STEM fields encompass so many of the industries that drive innovation and the more students we can prepare for those fields, the greater the benefit to us all.
