Lincoln Christian Cheer
LeeAnn Dowler is currently in her seventh year as the varsity cheer coach at Lincoln Christian School. She also teaches 11th and 12th grade English, and loves the community at LCS.
“My co-workers are some of the hardest working people I know. They accomplish so much and with such excellence. It spurs me on to do my best, and it feels like a family all of the time,” said Dowler. “My cheerleaders and my students are absolutely some of my very favorite people in the world. I love hearing what is going on in their lives, being there for them when I am needed, and celebrating all their successes with them. I also love the support they have for each other.”
Dowler is passionate about cheer. She describes it as a sport that is different from most because of the ever-changing skills required, and the athleticism combined with the performance aspects.
“ ”“As a coach, I love watching the girls learn and master new skills that take them to a new level,” she said. “Seeing all of their potential, knowing what they can do, and pushing them past where they think they can go are some of my favorite parts of being a coach.”
She said that she is always amazed at the team’s determination to succeed, describing them as gritty and determined.

“These girls took themselves from fifth place at regionals to OSSAA 3A state cheer champions this year. They set out to accomplish that goal and did everything they could possibly do to make it happen. They did it,” she said. “It was the absolute favorite moment of my coaching career so far. Seeing their faces beaming with pride, tears of joy, and astonishment is going to be forever etched in my memory.”
The squad has looked to their seniors for leadership – Taylor Andrews, Victoria Lambrix, and McKinley Sowell.
“These three bring years of experience, great talents, and servant leadership that help make our team who they are,” said Dowler.
In addition to their own state title, the squad got to cheer on the Bulldog football team to their own 3A state championship, and look forward to doing the same during basketball season.
