Summit Christian Eagles – Boys Basketball Team Preview

SUMMIT CHRISTIAN EAGLES

Coach: Tim VanDuser

23-24 Record: 20-7

OUTLOOK

Despite losing several players to graduation, Summit Christian and head coach Tim VanDuser return a good nucleus of players who bring experience and passion to the court for the Eagles.

“Finished 20-7 last season losing in the Class A Area Semi-Finals. We lose four senior starters but return six seniors with ample experience and a solid junior/sophomore class. Looking to win 20-plus games and earn a state berth,” said coach VanDuser.

George Petts IV – Summit Christian High School

VYPE Top 100 selectee George Petts IV (6-6, Sr.) averaged 12 points and 9.0 rebounds a game last season. Petts will lead the Eagles this season from his stretch forward spot. He currently holds two NAIA offers and one D3 offer. Look for the recruiting to pick up before Petts makes his decision. Grayson Garnatz (6-5, Sr.) plays opposite Petts and is a nice compliment on both ends of the court. Garnatz averaged 7.0 points and 9.0 rebounds a game.

Carson Banham (6-0, Sr.) will start at point guard where he accounted for 7.0 points, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals as a junior. Banham can find the open man and push the pace when necessary. Peyton Murray (6-2, Sr.) is another guard who can score and match up with anyone on the court. Murray averaged 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds last season.

Also look for Seth Shubert (5-8, Jr.) at point guard, Tristan Duffield (6-3, Jr.) at forward, and JP Stephens (6-1, Jr.) at guard. Shubert is the 6th man this season and has ice water in his veins when he’s on the free throw line. Duffield is a long forward and sneaky athletic. Duffield is an excellent rebounder, cuts well, and can get up to block shots.
