Bixby’s Tatum Penland Wraps up Track Season – Presented by RainTech Roofing

VYPE: Tatum, what events do you compete in and what grade are you in?

Tatum Penland: I compete in the 3200, 1600, and 4×800.

VYPE: What’s the strength of your game and what are you working on to improve? 

TP: A strength I have is that I always make sure to put in the work. This next season I am working on having more consistent races.

VYPE: What’s the toughest part about being a track athlete?

TP: The hardest part about being a track athlete is nervousness you feel before a race.

VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Bixby?

TP: I love how encouraging and fun my teammates are. They always make hard practices so much better.

VYPE: What makes representing Bixby special for you? 

TP: Representing Bixby is special because of how hard our team works every day at practice.

VYPE: Who inspires you? Explain.

TP: My parents inspire me because they always work so hard at everything they do.

VYPE: What current or former teammate left an impression on you and in what way?

TP: My teammate Abigail left an impression on me because she always put in the extra effort to encourage and push our team.

VYPE: What has athletics taught you that you will use later in life?

TP: Athletics has taught me to do things even when it is hard.

VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate? 

TP: After I graduate, I’m not sure what I want to study yet but I would like to run in college.
