BERRYHILL CHIEFS
Coach: PAT HARPER
7-4

Berryhill heads into 2026 with optimism after a 7-4 season and with longtime head coach Pat Harper, now in his 34th year, guiding a roster that blends veteran leadership with a wave of young talent. Harper said he is “very excited” about a group that will feature “a lot of good young players” stepping into starting roles alongside returning starters and strong senior leadership. The Chiefs expect that mix to produce an “exciting season” as they contend in Class 3A.
The Chiefs return six offensive starters and will again build around senior quarterback/linebacker Max Harland (6-0, 180). Berryhill operates out of a multiple I formation and wants to be well-balanced while playing a “very physical” brand of football that can run and throw depending on what the defense presents. Key offensive pieces include senior receiver/center Jordan Smith (5-10, 160), junior guard/defensive end Asher Martin (5-10, 225), senior guard/defensive end Luke Majors (5-10, 220), junior tackle/defensive end Dax Fields (6-2, 225) and junior running back/outside linebacker Cash Stein (6-2, 210). With that core, Berryhill believes it can control the line of scrimmage and stay multiple in its attack.

Defensively, the Chiefs also bring back six starters and will base out of a 3-4 that emphasizes aggression and pursuit. Senior nose guard and Top 100 nominee Kasun Horton (5-10, 265) anchors the middle as a “big physical NG who controls the middle” and is described as an explosive lineman centers and guards “do not like playing against.” The secondary is stocked with versatile athletes such as junior safety Jarret Norman (5-11, 155), senior corner Alex Paddock (5-11, 155), sophomore safety Roman Tyler (5-9, 140) and junior corner Graham Hollie (5-10, 145), while junior running back/linebacker Xander Wiley (5-10, 170) adds physicality at linebacker. Harper believes the combination of Horton’s dominance up front, a physical offensive line and emerging young playmakers can keep the Chiefs in the playoff mix.
