Skiatook’s Tucker Rehder

For Skiatook High School junior Tucker Rehder, golf is as much about the people around him as it is about the scorecard in his back pocket.

A varsity golfer for the Bulldogs, Rehder said the bond he shares with his teammates is what makes the long practices and pressure-packed tournaments worth it. “I love the close connections and friendship we have together,” Rehder said.

Those relationships extend beyond his teammates. Rehder said his biggest inspiration comes from the circle that has been with him from the start. “My friends and family, they keep me steady and motivated,” he said. “They remind me why I love this game and push me to keep growing, even when things get tough. Knowing they believe in me helps me stay grounded and focused.”

That support system has been especially important as Rehder leans into what he calls the toughest part of competitive golf: the mental side. “It’s hard to stay positive after a bad hole or shot that didn’t go the way I planned,” Rehder said. “This year I have been putting in extra focus on this part of the game. My dad even made me five mental tips and we go over them before each competition. Having this routine has helped me stay focused and remind me that one moment doesn’t define my whole round.”

Representing Skiatook, he said, is a point of pride. “Representing Skiatook means a lot to me,” Rehder said. “I love showing what our program stands for and bringing a positive perspective to the game of golf.”

On the course, Rehder leans on a reliable favorite — his 8-iron. “Anytime I have that club in my hand, I always have so much confidence and control,” he said.

He lists hitting fairways and keeping the ball in play as key strengths, helping him stay consistent throughout a round, and he is working to sharpen his iron play and mental game as he chases his next goal: playing college golf. “I would love the opportunity to play golf at the collegiate level,” Rehder said.
