Owasso’s Senior Spotlight Terrin White – Presented by Hopkins Funeral Services

VYPE: Terrin, what grade are you in and when did you start playing soccer?

Terrin White: I am a senior and I started playing soccer when I was six years old.

VYPE: What position do you play?

TW: I play forward/winger.

VYPE: What would you say is the strength of your game and what have you improved on the most this season?

TW: My speed I’d say is my biggest strength when it comes to playing. I’ve improved the most on my confidence when playing, which I’ve had to slowly gain back after coming back from an ACL tear.

VYPE: What is your biggest challenge as a student-athlete? Was it the injury?

TW: My biggest challenge as a student-athlete is often myself when I get into my own head. Overcoming that mental obstacle takes time and experience on and off the field.

VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?

TW: Before games, I focus on scripture and prayer. Every single time it never fails to get my mind in the right head space. We play for His glory, not our own.

VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates and the support you get from everyone?

TW: My teammates, family, fans, athletic trainers and coaches are crucial because it creates a strong foundation for personal growth and resilience. I am forever thankful to God for them.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

TW: I plan on pursuing my Doctorate in Physical Therapy after my four years of playing college ball at NSU.

VYPE: Who has impressed you this season?

TW: Although she is a freshman, my teammate Anderson Rogers amazes me. Her work ethic is absolutely amazing at such a young age, and I strive to reflect her same work rate.

VYPE: What accomplishment are you most proud of as an athlete?

TW: Although this isn’t currently soccer related, I am proud of myself for coming back after a full ACL rupture and a years worth of recovery. Only about half of athletes come back after injuries like that, so knowing I was able to make a comeback is a blessing
