Rejoice Christian’s Abby Perry
Multi-sport student-athlete Abby Perry is a senior at Rejoice Christian School where she competes with the cheer team and plays goalie for the varsity soccer team. As a member of the cheer team, Perry is serving as captain this season and it’s a role she has embraced.
“The thing I love most about my cheer team, is how encouraging everyone is! Everyone on the team is uplifting and so kind. We really show the joy and love of Jesus,” Perry said. “I am one of our cheer captains on our team! I lead by teaching chants, routines, choreographing routines, helping others learn them, and being a friend to them.”
As a team, Perry said the cheer squad has worked hard to make this one of their best seasons on record.
“We have been working so hard and I believe this season will be our best yet,” said Perry.
Perry said she finds inspiration from someone she is close to at home.
“My biggest inspiration is my mom! She has sacrificed so much for me to be able to go a wonderful school and be involved in so many activities. With out her support and my dad’s, I would not be where I am today,” said Perry.
In the classroom, Perry said she has her favorites, but narrowing down the list is tough.
“My favorite subject in school has always been English. My favorite teachers are Mrs. Hollingsworth and Mrs. Koss. They have both been so loving and kind. They make learning fun and made me fall in love with reading,” said Perry.
Being involved in other school activities is important to Perry. This year she is serving on the Student Council and is a member of National Honor Society. Perry said she is planning a future that includes college and serving the community in ministry work.
“After I graduate, I want to attend a Christian College and study children’s ministry. I want to teach kids about Jesus and have a family someday,” said Perry.
In her free time, Perry said she has many activities with family and friends that she enjoys.
“I enjoy going to church, serving in kids ministry, playing with my sister, watching movies, playing games with my brother, hanging out with my friends and my boyfriend,” said Perry.
