OUTLOOK

Tipping off her second season in the driver’s seat of the Lady Cardinals basketball program, head coach Kailan DeCamp is looking forward to getting this group back on the court with a plethora of returning players.

“We have several returning players to help carry the load as well as a group of younger kids that should push us to be better every day. We are excited about building onto the foundation we laid last year and getting better every day,” coach DeCamp said.

VYPE Top 100 selectee Hayden McDowell (5-7, Sr.) returns for her final season of prep basketball. McDowell has excellent court vision and the ability to knock down shots.

“Hayden has contributed in all areas throughout her career at CHS. Hayden has the ability to distribute the basketball as well as knock down shots from the outside for us. Hayden is a team first player and will do everything she can to drive our team to higher places this season,” coach DeCamp said.

Anna Appelberg (5-10, Sr.) is a post player who figures into the scheme again this season. Her play, alongside Ella Armstrong (6-0, Jr.) at forward, will solidify the Lady Cardinals as a team who can control the paint and grab those crucial rebounds. Add Iversyn Bailey (5-10, Fr.) at forward and you have the makings of a group that can dominate inside.

Rian Lytle (5-3, Fr.) is a point guard who is impressing everyone that watches her play. Coach DeCamp said of Lytle, “we believe she has the tools to be a high functioning point guard for our program in the near future. She handles the ball, sees the floor well, can get downhill, finish, and orchestrate the offense.”

Kaylee Brown (5-7, Jr.) and Jennah Christian (5-9, Sr.) are two players looking to find their way to the court and help the team in whatever way possible. Brown will play one of the guard spots while Christian will play forward. Also look for Avery Oder (5-9, Sr.) and Joely Wise (5-7, Sr.). Both seniors are capable of providing the team with quality minutes on the floor. Oder will play forward, while Wise will play guard.
