Catoosa’s Emanuel Ramos – Wrestling Spotlight – Presented by Steve Swann – State Farm Insurance

Emanuel Ramos, a junior at Catoosa High School, has made a name for himself on the wrestling mat with his relentless work ethic, competitive spirit, and dedication to representing his school with pride. Wrestling has been more than a sport for Emanuel; it’s a platform where he demonstrates discipline, perseverance, and leadership.

Emanuel credits much of his success to his coach, Vincent Eremita. “He’s my biggest role model,” Emanuel says. “Coach always taught me to be a good person and strive to be a top dog, not just in wrestling, but in life.” Those lessons extend beyond the gym. Emanuel also reflects fondly on Mrs. Bullock, his favorite teacher, who has helped him navigate challenges in life. “She always helped me find solutions to problems and taught me to focus on the positive rather than the negative,” he explains.

Emanuel has had several standout moments in his wrestling career. As a freshman, he pinned a Class 4A state qualifier, and his sophomore year saw him triumph over a Class 6A state qualifier, moments that highlight his skill and determination. Looking ahead, Emanuel is eager for the challenge of wrestling Gunner Murray from Claremore, a two-time state placer. “Whether I win or lose, I’m excited to step on the line and see who wants it more,” he says.

Practice is just as important as competition, and Emanuel values his teammates who push him to be better every day. He enjoys training with Aiden Bruce and Devin Johnson, both of whom challenge him physically and mentally. Emanuel also recognizes teammates like Abram, whom he believes is an underappreciated wrestler destined for success.

Outside the mat, Emanuel finds inspiration through social media personalities like Jason Poleski, who motivate him to stay positive, help others, and be authentic. He also emphasizes the importance of balance: “You have to find a mix between school, work, and fun, or you risk burning out.”

Representing Catoosa High is a responsibility Emanuel takes seriously. “Whenever people think of Catoosa wrestling, I want them to think of someone respectful, helpful, and hardworking,” he says. With his focus, determination, and mindset, Ramos is not only a fierce competitor but also a role model for his teammates and peers alike.
