Coming into the season the Lady Cardinals softball team and head coach Kylee Cole knew this group was a competitive team with a lot of experience. Each player has stepped up and been a difference maker at some point this season. Now, 15-9 heading into the final five games of the regular season, players like Cadyn Ford are focused on what it will take to win these last five game and make it to post season play.
Ford, a sophomore who plays centerfield said everyone is focused and excited to finish strong.
“Someone who impresses me is Kailyn Breeding, she knew she had to step up the season and that’s exactly what she did. What makes us good is our staff, Coach Cantrell great at what he does,” said Ford.
The team has played some great games this season and has made a lot of memories.
“My favorite memory would be our bus ride back from Shawnee and we had to stop multiple times due to everyone throwing up,” said Ford.
Knowing her teammates and how everyone clicks has helped this team find their chemistry together.
“Bristol keeps everyone laughing and Allie is probably the most serious,” said Ford.
The sophomore said she has prepares for every game the same way.
Knowing who ever we are facing that day is ready to win but know that if we work as a team, we can out effort them and eventually our play them. The best advice I’ve received is to play the short game and play pitch my pitch,” said Ford.
In the classroom, Ford said she her favorite teacher is Mrs. P, and she is starting to think about life after high school.
“I plan to go off to college hopefully play softball while working on getting my bachelor’s degree to become an orthodontist.”
